In 1947 the single most important event in UFO (Unidentified Flying Object) history occurred near the town of Roswell, NM, with the occurrence of this event the biggest cover-up that this government has ever conspired to commit began. The main part of the Roswell story comes from W.W. Brazel who I will call "Mac" throughout the rest of this report as it was and is still his nickname. The other part of the story comes from the government, and it's many stories regarding this incident throughout the past 51 years. Our story begins in June of 1947 on a ranch that is situated 85 miles northwest of Roswell. On June 14, 1947, Mac was making his usual rounds on the J.B. Foster Ranch. He really did not pay that much attention to the debris as he was in a hurry that morning. The wreckage was spread over an area that was well over 200 yards in size. The wreckage consisted mainly of the following: tinfoil, wood sticks, scotch tape, rubber strips, a tape that had a floral design, and what "Mac described as rough paper." (Jaroff) At around the same time that Mac had found the debris, Kenneth Arnold had his famous UFO encounter while flying in the Cascade Mountains in Washington. By July 4, 1947 the UFO craze had hit America and it was as if the whole world was watching the skies. But even with all of the media coverage that was surrounding the UFO's, Mac did not even know about them, as he had no radio. On July 3, while driving to the close by town of Corona, where he heard about a rumored reward for someone who had recovered one of these flying saucers, he then got the idea that he should get a hold of the local sheriff about the debris that he had found a few weeks before. On July 7, 1947, while Mac was in Roswell selling some wool, he went to the office of Sheriff George Wilcox. Mac remembers that he "whispered kinda confidential like" (Jaroff) that he could have found one of those flying saucers. At this, Wilcox immediately got a hold of the Roswell Army Airfield, (the reason that all of the reports regarding this field in Roswell were classified for so long is because at the time it was the only nuclear strike force in the United States) when he got through to the base, he talked to a Jesse Marcel who was the group intelligence officer at the time of the crash in 1947. Marcel then sped into Roswell with his counter intelligence corps officer Sheridan Cavitt, after picking up Mac in Roswell, they headed to the ranch located northwest of the town. After collecting most of the wreckage, which weighed no more than five pounds, it was placed into the trunk of the Buick that was owned by Marcel. While in route to the Army Air Force base in Roswell, Marcel stopped at his house to show his family the debris that was found near the ranch. Jesse Jr. remembers being awakened by his father that night so he could see the debris. Jesse Jr. recalls that there were "hieroglyphics" on some of the debris. When Marcel returned to the base, Walter Haut, who was the base press officer at the time, was ordered to put out a story that said: "We have in our possession a flying saucer, and that we have shipped the debris to General Ramey at the 8th Airforce at Fort Worth." The next day, the release that Haut had put out caused an uproar. "RAAF CAPTURES FLYING SAUCER ON RANCH IN ROSWELL REGION." On that same day (July 8) the phone lines quickly lit up at both the sheriff's office and at the base. They were overrun with phone calls from around the world. On that same night the cover-up had began with the General at Fort Worth saying that the debris was merely a downed weather balloon, the original press release was said to be just a big mistake. At the news of this everything in Roswell calmed down and nothing more would happen there concerning the incident until almost 30 years later. Stanton Friedman, a former nuclear physicist who is living in New Brunswick, Canada, a noted UFOlogist, was in Baton Rouge in 1978. While he was there, he was told of Marcel, who had moved there some time before. Marcel still believed that what he had seen that day was a crashed UFO. After interviewing Marcel who believed that the debris was alien to this world, Friedman began to go over all of the old stories regarding the crash in Roswell during the year of 1947. Friedman concluded that there had been a cover-up of "Cosmic Watergate." Friedman then published his book, The u Roswell Incident, in 1980. With this book, Roswell was put back on the map and once again interest was stirred in the UFO phenomena. In 1988, the Center for UFO studies (CUFOS) that was based in Chicago, sent a team to Roswell to seek out any evidence that was left behind, and to interview all of the witnesses that were still alive. After interviewing all of the witnesses and going over the crash site countless times, they concluded that the government had recovered a downed UFO in 1947, and not only that, they also concluded that the government had recovered many little bodies from the site. The biggest part of the report also claimed that the government had covered up the whole thing. Enter into the story a Glenn Dennis, who was at the time a 22-year-old mortician in Roswell. He claims that there were a number of phone calls relating to how many child size coffins that there were in stock, and the procedures for embalming bodies that were left out in the weather for a few days. Also he claims to have seen strange activity at the base hospital right after the crash. He had been at the hospital and he was ordered to leave after he saw a hysterical nurse come out of a room screaming. She told him that they were doing autopsies on "strange looking small bodies." The nurse made him swear to secrecy and right after the incident the nurse was transferred to England. Officials say that she died in a plane crash. Meanwhile, Friedman was offered a job at Unsolved Mysteries as the head of the department that deals with UFO's. In 1989, they did a show on UFO's and Roswell, and as soon as the 800 number popped up, Gerald Anderson called in saying that their reenactment of the incident was incorrect. He told the operator that the shape of the spacecraft was incorrect. How did Anderson know about this you wonder? He is a resident of Springfield Mo., who moved to the Roswell area in 1947 with his family. rial">According to him, he was out rock hunting when he came across the downed craft. With this news Friedman was very excited, he sent a therapist out to interview Anderson. Soon after the interview with the therapist, Friedman began work on a new book. With his new evidence, he wrote the book "Crash At Corona", in which he claimed that the government had not recovered one saucer, but had recovered two saucers and to this day are still denying the fact. Soon after a Frank Kaufman claimed that there was a lot of military activity about 40 miles south of the ranch where the original crash took place. He claims that an object "that was shaped like a plane fuselage" was half buried in the side of a hill and the military was working frantically to remove the crashed object from the area. Also he claimed that he saw through a crack in the side of the crashed craft that he saw several little bodies that were not of this world. Soon many tales were coming out of Roswell. One of these many stories was that of an anonymous person who said that he was out in a park around the Forth of July. He and his lady friend saw a saucer come down and crash into a large rock in the area, thus splitting the rock in half. At this they decided to leave and come back in the morning. When they returned they found the area swarming with military personal, when the military noticed them, they were ordered to leave the area immediately. A lot of the researchers that deal with Roswell agree that something must have happened there in 1947. But they can not agree to what. Instead of trying to find out the facts, they are too busy arguing with each other, calling each other liars and everything This has added to the government's theory that nothing happened there that day in 1947. My theory fits in here, before the rest of the story, I think that something did happen that day in 1947. Also, I think that the government has recovered many of these downed crafts as was described above and have in their custody many of the alien bodies. Therefore they have covered up the whole incident and I fear that we will never know the truth. But you can not make that decision yet as you have not heard the whole story. The government has had many stories that entail that there were many different things that happened there. The most famous story from the government is that the crashed object was a downed weather balloon. This story came about the day after the press released that the military had captured a downed saucer. The general at the Air Force base in Fort Worth claimed that it was simply a downed weather balloon. The weather balloons of the time were not made out of the foil, wood sticks and tape that were reported to be found at the crash site. In, fact the weather balloons of the time were a lot smaller and consisted of a lot less parts then what was found at the site. Later after the Soviet Union fell early in this decade, the United States government released many documents that were deemed TOP SECRET by the CIA. These documents talked of a secret project that the government was running at around the time of the crash. But this project began it's launches in the area of Roswell well after the crash in 1947. Project Mogul was the government's secret project that they created to spy on the Soviet's nuclear testing. The idea behind the secret project was that when a great blast, such as a nuclear bomb going off, they could sense the shock waves from the blast under the ocean's surface. The testing for the project was to take place in Pennsylvania during the late 1940's to the early 1950's, which was cancelled. The project was then moved to New Mexico in the late 40's. They moved it to New Mexico because of the high winds in Pennsylvania. One of the things that does not work out in the story about Roswell is the fact that the testing had not moved to the area until well after the crash. The design for the project was originally conceived in the New York University. One of the scientists that was working on the project said that it was so classified that he did not even know the name of the project until just a few years ago. He said that he was told at the time that the project he was working on was to help the National Weather Service create a better balloon to monitor weather conditions. But the only thing that makes this story false in my opinion, is that the fact that the project did not begin in the area until a few years after the crash on the ranch in 1947. Another thing is that the government has changed their story so many times after the release of their "Project Mogul Farce" that many of the researchers, who work with Roswell Incident, call this a cover-up story. Now how does the government explain all of those small bodies that were seen by many witnesses? Well, they account for this part of the story by saying that dummy drops were being conducted in the area. The dummies were being dropped from high altitudes, as they were part of the balloons. They were part of project mogul and were supposed to be important to some degree, but I do not know to this day why they are so important. Again, even thought the drops did not begin until a few years after the crash, the government stands by their story that the dummy drops were a part of the crash. The weirdest part of the government's stories about the crash is the fact that many of the government officials now claim that nothing ever happened. They have been saying for years that it was a weather balloon, then a TOP SECRET project, and then even dummy drops. They must be covering something up. What is the truth about what they have in their possession that they don't want us, the American people, to know about? I believe that the American people as a whole deserves to know what happened in Roswell. We have the right to know as part of our constitutional rights. There are groups out there who are trying to help us find the truth but I fear that this battle will go on for many years to come.
