W przeciwieństwie do amerykańskich wytwórni whiskey, gdzie obowiązuje zakaz spożywania alkoholu w promieniu co najmniej 500 mil od destylarni (nie zapominajmy, że prohibicja to wynalazek amerykański), część szkockich destylarni otworzyła swe podwoje dla zwiedzających. Wymienione poniżej destylarnie posiadają tzw. Visitor Centres, gdzie zwiedzający mogą się przyjrzeć procesowi produkcji, składowania i butelkowania whisky. Na koniec każdej z takich wycieczek gospodarze oferują gratisową szklaneczkę swojego wyrobu. Niestety, za wstęp trzeba zapłacić od 2 do 4 funtów (poza destylarnią Edradour oraz Glenfiddich, gdzie wchodzimy za friko i jeszcze dają się nam napić!), więc nie jest to znowu takie złoto. Jednak w większości destylarni cenę biletu wstępu można sobie odliczyć od butelki whisky zakupionej w sklepie na terenie destylarni.

Neleży jednak pamiętać, że zgodnie z tradycją produkcja whisky odbywa się po żniwach jęczmienia do wczesnej wiosny, stąd istnieje niebezpieczeństwo, że odwiedzając destylarnie w wakacje, samego procesu produkcji nie zobaczymy.

W wielu przypadkach należy także umówić się wcześniej na zwiedzanie - ilość zwiedzającyh jest ograniczona - stąd obok adresu destylarni, podaję numer telefonu. Niestety, mówią tak zwykle tylko po angielsku. Na dodatek z silnym szkockim akcentem.

Jeżeli obok adresu znajduje się logo danej destylarni, najpewniej zawiera ono link do strony poświęconej tylko i wyłącznie tej właśnie wytwórni whisky. Sprawdź.
