Now, this game I love. Unfortunately due to it
reminding Nintendo of a certain Mario game, they asked Rainbow
Arts to withdraw all copies when Nintendo saw a demo of the
game's sequel. Very few people own an original copy, but for
those who got the disk version, there was this superb scene
setting happy intro by Chris Huelsbeck. The background melody is
superb, and the drums don't intrude too much with the main
peaceful ethereal voice that could very well fit into a
children's cartoon: yes, folks, it is that brilliant - can you
imagine just happily bouncing along to this with your favourite
characters? I can..

My wife Tanya's favourite game, and a contender for best of all
time in my books. Chris did a great job with the music,
especially compared with Nintendo's Mario music. Thanks to my
Action Replay, this was hacked in no time, so I got to the end,
and the trick ending (falling down a chasm indeed, what strange
minds the designers had!). I'd like to voice my thanks to the
programmers who produced this masterpiece of digital mayhem:
great going, guys.
The level music was a walk in the park, and the underground music reflected the same change in mood that occured when going underground in Mario, but it's the title tune that most people talk about. Chris released a Giana sisters megamix on his CD "Rainbows", available from his commercial homepage (through Synsoniq Records), which featured the title/in-game/underground/high score tunes. I like Chris's audio work very much, but I was disappointed at the loss of feel of the in-game track.
The title tune clip comes from my "Back in Time" CD. Go buy it, now! The drums on Chris's happy Giana tune are slightly more high pitched than the necessarily 8-bit sampled drums of the original, and the overall feel is more sleek, but I think it's a fine piece of music.
The MIDIs come from that fine band of men,
Cryogenic Emotions. All hail!
